Two Harbors Services

Two Harbors is an rustic seaside village located at the isthmus of Catalina Island, just 20 miles off the coast of Southern California. Two Harbors offers recreational opportunities that include hiking, snorkeling and scuba diving in crystal clear water, ocean kayaking, mountain biking, seaside camping, pleasure boating or just plan relaxing on a sandy beach. Guest accommodations at Two Harbors include the Banning House Lodge an 11 room Bed and Breakfast that over looks both the front and backside of the island. Four campgrounds, each offering a unique outdoor experience. Dining options include the Harbor Reef Restaurant & Saloon, The West End Galley snack shop, and General Store Deli. Other services include Safari Bus and tours, Visitors Service Center, an extensive Harbor and Mooring operation which includes, Harbor Patrol, Shoreboat Service, Dive Shop with air fill station and Fuel Dock services for boaters.

Colorful History

The Two Harbors area is rich in history. It was first inhabited by Native American Indians who lived by the sea and traded with mainland Indians. Spanish explorers, fur traders and even pirates and smugglers visited Two Harbors throughout the years. During the Civil War, a unit of the Union Army was stationed here. Their barracks building still stands in testament to their brief stay. Many Hollywood movie studios used the Two Harbors area as a “ South Seas” back drop to film classics, one being “ Mutiny on The Bounty”.

All applications received by Two Harbors, Inc. will remain active for six months. If you still wish to be considered for employment after this time period, you will need to fill out a new employment application.

General Information

Appearance & Conduct... The impression that you make on our guests is very important. Remember, you may be the first contact that a guest has with our area, therefore, we want to make sure that it a good and lasting impression. We do require that all employees maintain a clean, well groomed appearance and conduct themselves in a reasonable and considerate manner while on duty.

Employee Meals

Meals are available at the Galley snack shop for a discounted rate throughout the season.

Housing

Housing is limited and assigned to employees based on need and job position. All employees who are assigned housing must be 18 years or older. We offer dormitory style housing (2 people per room) rent on a monthly basis is $145 to $245. A security deposit of $100.00 is REQUIRED upon arrival. You will not be allowed to occupy housing without a deposit. You will also be required to sign a housing agreement. Monthly rent is deducted from each employee’s paycheck bi-weekly.

Identification

Federal law requires all employees to prove eligibility for employment in the United States. Upon arrival, employee must provide appropriate identification/documentation. NO PERSON WILL BE EMPLOYED WITHOUT THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION!

Anticipated Seasonal Job Openings

The following is a brief description of the essential functions of the position that are typically available. A complete job description is available in the Human Resources office at Two Harbors. Accounting

Balances sales reports to cash. Customer service, ten key experience, general computer knowledge and other duties as assigned. Cashiering experience required.

General Store

High public contact in grocery, marine supply, and gift operation. Stock shelves, operates cash register and other duties as assigned in high volume store. Heavy lifting. Cashiering experience required.

Harbor Department

High public contact in guest service operation. Office Personnel answers questions from public, ten key experience, general computer knowledge, cashiering experience, VHF radio skills, and other duties as assigned. Harbor Patrol requires boat handling experience, VHF radio skills, and cash handling experience and other duties as assigned. Shoreboat Operator Masters Operators License, Marine Radio Operator Permit and current DOT physical examination required. Pre-employment urinalysis test also required. Cash handling experience and other duties as assigned. Fuel Dock Attendant operate cash register, counts money, balancing daily bank and other duties as assigned.

Marine Mechanic

Outboard, diesel and generator, parts, services, repair and maintenance. Haul and launch of company and guest vessels. Honda Outboard Dealer.

Visitor Service Center

High public contact in guest service operation, answer questions from the public, assist with lost & found items/procedures, check in for passenger boats and accommodations at resort. General computer knowledge and other duties as assigned.

Safari Bus Service

Pick up guests at designated stops and deliver to plaza area, answer questions, give directions and other duties as assigned. Must have a valid California State Class B commercial driver’s license w/passenger and brake endorsement and clean driving record. Must have a DOT physical examination card and Basic First Aid & CPR card. Pre-employment urinalysis test also required.

General Maintenance

Janitor/Grounds keeper, maintains the guest shower and restroom facilities also dorm housing kitchen and restroom facilities as well as resort grounds and other duties as assigned. Heavy lifting required.

Campground Ranger

High public contact in guest service operation, maintains camp grounds as well as provides gearhauls and amenities to guests at camp site. Answer questions from the public, assist with lost & found items/procedures and cash handling experiences. Requires valid California Drivers license. Heavy lifting required.

Dive Shop

High public contact in Dive service operation. Instructors, Dive Masters and Store personnel for daily shop operation, rental gear, dive boat check-in, and air fills. Instructors/Dive Masters insurance paid during employment period. Answer questions from the public and cash handling experiences. Must have Basic First Aid & CPR card. Pre-employment urinalysis test also required for all boat crew. Heavy lifting required.

Banning House B & B

High public contact in guest service operation. Housekeeping positions to turn over (12) room lodge. Requires valid California Drivers license. Heavy lifting required.

Restaurant

High public contact in guest service operation. Galley Counter, Breakfast Cooks, Short Order Cooks, Dinner Line Cooks, Wait Staff, Dishwashers, and Bartenders. Assistant Event and Catering Coordinator. Most positions require prior experience and cash handling. Heavy lifting required.
